Hill View is perfectly situated for excellent access to a wide variety of attractions. The area is known as Somerset by the Sea! We are in fact at most a half hour drive from a beach - Weston-super-Mare, Burnham on Sea and Brean to name but three! Besides the seaside though, there are the Hills of the Mendips, the Quantocks, Brendon and Polden. Stunning open countryside and striking scenary abounds. The area is also famous for its fishing and also for the facilities available to cyclists. Wild life is prolific in this part of the world and wild birds are particularly varied and abundant. A short drive from Hill View will bring you to several local attractions. The house itself is a few hundred yards from the site of the Battle of Sedgemoor fought in 1785, the last battle to be fought on English soil. Westonzoyland village is seeped in the history of the conflict fought all those years ago between the Protestant rebels led by Duke of Monmouth and King James II's men. The willow making craft industry is local too and Willows and Wetlands is a tourist attraction for visitors for miles around. West Somerset Railway runs steam train services on a daily basis most of the year round between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead on the coast. A day ticket on this route takes you to many delightful Somerset spots and all the stations on the route are preserved in character making this an entertaining and special day out. The stunningly majestic and beautiful Cathedral in Wells is well worth a visit, as is the pretty town of Wells where there is lots to see and do.
